When I go to the gym (which used to be nightly), I go after dinner leaving E to get both kids bathed and into bed. Alone. This arrangement, more than the vision of health and fitness, is the single best motivation I could muster. Why? Because if I don't go to the gym, I spend 24 hours a day with my wonderfully lovely offspring. I do enjoy spending time with them, but by the end of the day the craziness starts not-so-gently shoving the sanity in the far, far recesses of my mind. I haven't been really dependably "on" in terms of exercise since mid-summer. And it was okay. Then the hanger-on was evicted, and I've been forty shades of insane ("Oh, look! The sun is shining!" ... "Damn that sun, causing me wrinkles! Where are my sunglasses? What? What's that? Stop that squealing! Stop touching your sister! Where are my SUNGLASSES ?" -- all as I slowly realize they are atop my empty head...), but holding out hope that I'm climbing out of the dark pit of hormone withdrawal. Couple that with the headaches that visit far too frequently when I don't exercise, I've had plenty of motivation to get moving. Alas. The telly has held too powerful a spell over me.
Until tonight when E arrived home with a "treat" for the "children."

There's absolutely NO more powerful motivation than the thought of staying home with Beans as she detoxes from a chocolate frosted doughnut high (never mind the sheer horror of cleanup alone). Angry toddler angst, mood swings of her own, and sugar ecstasy? No, thank you. I'll take three miles of blood and sweat, I think.

Talk about motivation!!!! Hope you had a good workout.
Awfully cute with donut all over her face.
Hahahaha! Those pictures are the greatest! Maybe you can convince my husband that letting me get away every night to go to the gym is in his best interest as well as mine. I wish someone I knew would smack him on the head so that he could see that I'm the only mom I personally know (literally) who really is stuck with her kids from the time they get up till the time I put them to bed. Regardless, I feel a zoo date is calling my name. I'll e-mail you soon.
I'm so right there with you girl. Bubba Joe's been asking for chocolate left and right - he *used* to not like it - and I was SO okay with that too ... I remind his dad that when he gives sugar to Bubba Joe, then he's HIS problem! :)
Great motivator (and pics)
I miss the gym dreadfully. I am on "activity restriction" due to my gimpy ankle (like I could have worked up any good sweat without passing out first anyway).
Next year, I tell myself. Next year I'll be running with the best of them. Okay, the WORST of them. I suck at running.
LOL That's one way to get there. :) I dunno...they're so cute with the chocolate all over them. Then again, after being covered in snot and lollipop, I SO get where you're coming from.
Nothing more motivating than a toddler sugar detox! She's way too cute. I think Cenzo is in love...
LOL She is WAY too cute!
